Wildcare Australia offers a comprehensive range of training workshops in native animal care and management that are undertaken by....

  • people who work in the eco-tourism industry, park staff as well as
  • ordinary people who just want to learn more about caring for Australia’s unique wildlife

We also periodically often specialised training workshops from interstate trainers at a nominal cost for wildlife rehabilitators.

We offer a huge range of workshops on topics including:-

  • Assessment and Management of Sick and Injured Native Wildlife
  • Introduction to Caring for Orphaned Mammals
  • The care and management of Adult Koalas
  • Raising Orphaned Koala Joeys
  • Baby Birds
  • Basic Care and Management of Native Birds
  • Anatomy, Diseases and Injuries of Native Birds
  • Possums and Gliders (both basic and advanced courses)
  • Small Mammals and Bandicoots
  • Echidnas
  • Kangaroos and Wallabies (both basic and advanced courses)
  • Caring for Orphaned Flying Foxes
  • Caring for Adult and Sub-Adult Flying Foxes
  • Snakes and Lizards

Our general training workshops are free to current financial members of Wildcare Australia. Non-Members are welcome to attend our training workshops at a cost of $15 per person per workshop.

Wildcare Australia Specialised Training Workshops:

Native Animal Anatomy and Physiology

This is an advanced course designed essentially for those people who require in-depth practical veterinary knowledge or for those people already in the veterinary nursing, zoo keeping, national parks and wildlife fields. Whilst not essential for you to have had experience at wildlife care and rehabilitation, this would be an advantage.

This course deals with the following:

  • Skeletal, muscular, digestive, respiratory, reproductive and urinary anatomy and physiology of native Australian species
  • It includes familiarity with some veterinary terminology
  • Practical sessions include gross and microscopic anatomy

Duration of Course - The course is offered as either:-

  • An 8 week course (usually 3 hours on one night of the week); or
  • A 2 week course (usually Saturday and Sunday over 2 weekends)

Award - Students receive a Statement of Attendance upon completion of the course.

Cost - The cost of the course is $220.00 (including GST) per person and includes course handouts and light refreshments.

Advanced Reptile Course

Living with Wildlife recently conducted two 3 day intensive courses on the Working with Venomous Snakes. The course was thoroughly enjoyed by all those that participated.
