Tawny Frogmouth
This baby Tawny Frogmouth was one of 2 babies in a nest. This one decided to try to fly prematurely and ended up on the ground unable to get back into the nest. The next was about 25 metres off the ground. One of the parents vigilantly kept an eye on the baby as you can see from the first photo. The other parent tended to the other baby the nest in the eucalypt. A makeshift nest was made using an old cane basket affixed to a tree and the baby was placed in the nest. The parent continued to remain with it and feed it. After another week or so the baby was able to fly short distances and met up again with its sibling. In the last photo you can see one of the parents with the two babies.
