Whilst our core focus is the rescue and care of sick, injured, orphaned and displaced wildlife with the intention of returning them to the wild, education plays a vital role in our organisation. Raising public awareness of the plight of our native animals, is central to our aims and objectives.
The aims and objectives of Wildcare Australia Inc are to:
To provide a rescue, transport and rehabilitation service for sick, injured, orphaned and displaced native wildlife in South-East Queensland.
To facilitate the release of native wildlife that has been successfully rehabilitated back into its natural environment abiding by all state legislative and compliance requirements
To operate an emergency hotline service to coordinate the rescue and transport of sick, injured and orphaned wildlife, and to provide advice and information on wildlife-related matters to the general community.
To provide education, training and support to wildlife volunteers in all aspects of wildlife rescue and rehabilitation.
To provide an emergency response service for native wildlife affected by natural disasters, including bushfires and extreme weather events.
To promote the wellbeing, safety and ongoing support of volunteers engaged in wildlife rescue and rehabilitation activities.
To raise funds to assist in offsetting the financial costs incurred by wildlife volunteers in the rescue, transport and rehabilitation of native wildlife.
To collect, maintain and manage records and data relating to wildlife rescue, rehabilitation and release, in order to support best practice, accountability and improved conservation outcomes.
To promote the conservation and protection of ecosystems to support the ongoing survival of native wildlife and fauna.
To work collaboratively with other organisations in the wildlife sector to enable the best possible outcome for all native fauna.
To collaborate with veterinarians, government agencies, conservation organisations and other stakeholders to improve outcomes for wildlife rescue, rehabilitation and conservation.
To advocate for the protection of native wildlife through engagement with government, industry and the community, and to contribute to policy, planning and regulatory discussions affecting wildlife.
